Journal Theme Issues

Earth Observations and Remote Sensing for Environmental Management and Hazard Mitigation, 2011, published by The IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing (JSTARS)

Guest Editors: Xiaojun Yang (Florida State University) and Jonathan Li (University of Waterloo)

Remote Sensing of the Coastal Ecosystems, 2008, published by ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (vol. 63, no.5)

This is a special edition with papers selected from the submissions after an open Call-For-Papers. A copy of my editorial can be accessed here.

Coastal and Estuarine Analysis, 2005, published by International Journal of Remote Sensing (vol. 26, no. 23)

This is a special edition highlighting the remote sensing and GIS research conducted by investigators within EPA EaGle Research Program. The remote sensing component of this program was in part supported through a partnership with NASA. EaGLe grantee, Dr. Xiaojun Yang, served as guest editor for this special issue.

Urban Remote Sensing, 2005, published by Computers, Environment and Urban Systems (vol. 29, no. 5)

This is a special edition with papers selected from several thematic sessions ‘Remote sensing and GIS for Urban Analysis’ I organized for the Association of American Geographers (AAG) during the past years.

Urban Analysis, 2003, published by Photogrammetric Engineering and Remote Sensing (vol. 69, no. 9)

It is a collection of 11 articles selected from nearly 40 submissions in response to an open call-for-papers. This issue focuses on the applications of remote sensing and GIS technologies for the characterization, analysis, and modeling of the urban environment. The selected papers are grouped into five main categories, each of them representing a particular aspect of technological advancement in relation to urban analysis.
