My new appointment in the Commission on Mapping from Satellite Imagery of the International Cartographic Association:2008-2011

At the 13rd General Assembly of the International Cartographic Association (ICA) in Moscow, Russia, August, 2007, I was elected to serve as Vice Chair of the Commission for Mapping from Satellite Imagery of the ICA for the term of 2007-2011. Following Professor Graciela Metternicht's recent resignation, I become Chair of this Commission for 2008-2011. My involvement in ICA started from 1997 when I submitted a research paper to the 18th International Cartographic Conference (ICC) in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2001, I was appointed as the US Representative for the Commission on Mapping from Satellite Imagery, International Cartographic Association.

I presented a paper highlighting my recent research on the topographic and hydrographic mapping over coastal lowlands.
ISPRS Journal:Call For Papers (Theme Issue: Remote Sensing of the Coastal Ecosystems)

ISPRS Journal of Phtogrammetry and Remote Sensing Special Issue "Remote Sensing and Spatial Information for Coastal Ecosystem Assessment and Management". The due for paper submission has passed. This theme issue was published in August 2008.
The 2007 Nordic Summer School in Geographic Information Science

The year of 2007's Summer school (NordGISci'07) included a set of theme workshops on "GIS for cities". The instructors for this year were Xiaojun Yang, Juergen Doellner, David Martin, Lars Bodum, and Yifang Ban.

SGS is the FSU student chapter of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. I am the founding faculty advisor for SGS.
