Sarah Kennison

I am a meteorology master’s student studying with Dr. Wing’s group. I graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin in December 2023.

As an undergraduate student, I conducted research that utilized mathematics to investigate real-world problems including time series modeling of tropical cyclone dynamics and statistical analysis of textile waste produced by university marketing departments. While at Florida State University, I am interested in studying climate variability, tropical cyclone characteristics, and convective self-aggregation. I am also passionate about promoting equity in STEM fields for women and minorities by engaging with young scientists and advocating for inclusive science communication.

On a personal note, I was born into a military family in Ohio. After living in 5 other states, my family moved to central Texas where I attended high school. In my free time, I love to swim, mountain bike, hike, read, and crochet.
