What's New in 2026

Each year, your Statman team continues to make Statman more accurate and easier to use. We've enhanced the major additions from last year for usability. And a lot of smaller updates for specific situations.

What's been added and enhanced . . .
  • Print Game stats pdfs with all the pages you want in the order you want, all at once
    • Added this functionality to the "Season_Stats" and "Stats by Quarter" files
    • Fixed an error with how the Drive chart was appearing in the pdf printing
    • Fixed Errors with how some pages were not fitting correctly
    • Fixed Errors with some cells and sheets that were mis-formatting during printing
  • Significant updates to the Statman Record book (used across multiple seasons)
    • This is accomplished with two Statman files that work together
      • "Statman Stat Collector" - this file collects all the stats from previous completed seasons.
        • Updated to better ensure compatibility with earlier versions of Excel (and handling pre-2010 Statman files)
        • Reduced the file size and addressed bugs
        • Updated to indicate playoff and championship games
      • "Statman Record Book" - This file creates the record book from the stats you've collected across many seasons
        • Updated with twice the number of stats
        • Fixed bugs that prevented record creation
  • Created "Charts" worksheet for Season stats, similar to Game files
    • Provides season and season-to-date visualization
  • Modified Game file Charts to have both teams' individual charts on the same max scale
    • Aids visual comparison between the teams, just like the first Charts page already did
  • A new Game file - Play Entry time (Column E) option
    • (Optional) Enter an "F" to indicate that the game is final
  • A new Special Play Case in this file
    • Entering an intentional grounding penalty play
  • Clarified Season Stats Details worksheets
    • Added names for Our Team and each opponent above or with each Game #
  • Updated the "Scoring Summary" worksheet in the Game files
    • Now properly reflects who scored and how, not simply who had the ball that posession. Applies to turnover TDs.
  • Filters to data tables in Game files
    • Drive chart, Our Plays, and Their Plays
  • Cleaned up the "Game Summary" worksheet in the Game files
  • Added clarification on Statman's "QB Rating" with an in-cell note that it's the NCAA "Passer Efficiency Rating"
  • In Play Entry, returned Player Stats to the top of the screen and included Tweets there
What's been fixed . . .
  • Fixed all Macros in all files so they work for Macs (MaxPreps, Timeouts, pdf Printing, Printing in general)
  • Corrected HUDL File Import links
  • Removed Defensive stats from counting during a Try
  • Corrected for a "Goal to go" situation after a penalty didn't display properly in Play Entry
  • Fixed an Error Check formula to indicate the error
  • New Error Checks for Not entering the game time on a change of posession, and a Sack on a pass play
  • Compensated for a limitation in MaxPreps stats
  • Removed duplicate Overtime Special Cases
  • Corrected a formula in Season Stats
  • Other minor formatting, typographical, font, hyperlinks, outdated code, and similar cleanups.

As usual, Statman Football contains a schedule/results procedure, multiple report printing, efficient stats output, season stats capability, tons of offensive stats options, detailed special teams stats, an optional defensive stats section, complete play-by-play (with drive summaries), a scoring summary, drive charts, and much more!  You can choose between 3 versions . . . the season stats version, the single game (media) version, or the 80-yard season stats version. We also have an optional service plan.

These updates over the years will continue to allow users to achieve maximum output with minimum input. The premise of Statman has remained the same since its inception in 2001 ... entering basic play-by-play information into an Excel spreadsheet to achieve detailed statistics in report or html form.
