OVERVIEW

CLASS PRESENTATION ON COURSE PROJECT TOPIC

Please visit this site regularly for any updated information.
UPDATED APRIL 13 2018

Each student (or project team) will lead one class discussion (MAXIMUM  30 minutes) centered around their course project topic.
Class presentations days and times are scheduled below.

You can switch, e.g., if you are a "Wednesday" person to a Sunday. But you MUST let me know of any such changes.
Once a day/time slot is filled, it is filled!

PLEASE UPLOAD YOUR PRESENTATION IN EITHER POWER POINT OR PDF TO THE DISCUSSION BOARD THREE DAYS IN ADVANCE.
Addy and I must get it into Canvas!

Watch for Collaborate Ultra directions coming next week.

  TIME GUIDELINES

Signup days will be available in March. This schedule may vary slightly depending on the number of presentations and how many students form teams for their course project.

We'll work presentations through Collaborate Ultra.
Both can sometimes be a bit fussy, so please ensure your CHROME browser IS up to date!

  PRESENTATION LOGISTICS

The safest (i.e., Canvas will run them) is Power Point although Canvas will also read .pdf files.

In addition FOR ACTUAL PRESENTATION purposes, these programs can only take very primitive Power Point (slides, images--no links, no YouTube videos, etc.) We can place your more elaborate Power Point or Prezi presentations in a Canvas module. Therefore, you should:

prepare a two to three page synopsis handout for "class distribution". Post the "handout" AND the actual presentation file to me or to Addy two days ahead of your presentation. This enables us to download these files, then re-upload them to Canvas in time for your presentation.

the handout and the presentation should summarize the major points on the conceptual and empirical literature on your topic. The synopsis outlines your topic, discusses major concepts and findings, and highlights directions for future research.

You will do a brief presentation (15-20 minutes) on the topic

This assignment is 25% of your grade. It requires:

preparing a two to three page synopsis for class distribution, summarizing conceptual and empirical literature on your paper topic. The synopsis outlines the topic, discusses major concepts and findings, and highlights directions for future research.

leading a brief discussion on the major points about your paper topic.

most students also prepare a Power Point presentation. Access to several prior Power Point presentations for the Group Processes course will be available under the "Presentations" module in Canvas.

I WILL POST SYNOPSES AND PRESENTATIONS TO OUR ONLINE SITE.

Try leaving 5 minutes for questions and discussion (I know, that's only 10-15 minutes for a presentation, but remember, people can scan the handout!)

Include examples in your presentation and handout. Concrete examples are a very helpful way to illustrate concepts.

Generally, I emphasize a conceptual summary:

MORE LOGISTICS 2018

I am assuming that almost everyone plans to present using Power Point.
