Position Description
The Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering (IME) at FAMU-FSU College of Engineering seeks to recruit highly motivated Ph.D. students to join Dr. Yanshuo Sun’s research group, as early as Fall 2019. Applicants should have a B.S. or M.S. in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Transportation Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Applicants should possess the ability to work independently, as well as in a team. Fine scientific writing skills and fluency (both oral and written) in English are required. Other desired qualifications include: (1) the determination to explore and break new ground; (2) keen research interests in optimization methods (e.g., linear programming, integer programming, nonlinear programming, probabilistic optimization, equilibrium models); and (3) considerable programming experience in C/C++, Java, Python, or other languages.

About PI
Yanshuo Sun joined FSU as an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering in August 2018. Dr. Sun has broad research interests in transportation optimization problems, especially in public transit, air transportation, ridesharing, and multi-modal freight systems. He has widely published in renowned transportation journals including Transportation Research Parts A, B, and C. He is the recipient of multiple national awards and he has two research projects funded by federal agencies as the principal investigator. He expects to work on smart cities, connected communities, innovative mobility solutions, transportation economics, and large-scale logistics operations.
Prior to joining FSU, he is a Research Scientist and the Assistant Director of Research Program of the National Transportation Center at the University of Maryland, College Park.
