Projects

Digital Storytelling

Ally & the Missing Book is a digital story that includes elements of narration, sound effects and images combined in Prezi. This story is intended for elementary school age children to both entertain and teach a lesson. You can read more about the art of digital storytelling here.

Scenario Planning

Scenario planning is a process used by libraries and other organizations to create long term plans of action. This group project looks at 4 different poles to determine how the library should operate and adapt to these separate situations. If you are interested in taking a look at the write-up of the 2 poles I explored (a bad economy and the physical realm) you can do so here.

Podcasting

This is a 30 second intro to a podcast about how to refurbish furniture. I created this using Audacity.

Annotated Bibliography

Annotated bibliographies are a great resource for patrons because it allows for them to find materials based on a specific subject or medium that they find interesting. This annotated bibliography was created for Biographical Graphic Novels. Each title has a two to three sentence description of the work as well as the citation. You can take a look at it here.

Book Trailer

Book trailers are similar to Book Talks in that you are trying to persuade an audience to read a particular book. However, trailers feature audiovisual components to really bring the book to life. Below is a Book Trailer I created using Windows Movie Maker for the graphic novel Anya’s Ghost by Vera Brosgol. Enjoy!

Information Organization

For these projects I compared the MARC metadata records of RDA versus AACR2 of the same book and also analyzed a folksonomy created by this class. If you are interested in taking a look at this, you can read these papers I completed here and here.

Prezi

Datamining for High School Students is a Prezi I created to show how and why teaching research skills to high school students is important. This Prezi combines elements of images, videos and sound effects to illustrate examples and instruction.

Book Talk

Book talks are used to convince an audience to read a particular book. This book talk is intended for young adults who are intersted in dystopian novels. Included with this book talk is an essay that explains why these books were chosen. If you are interested in taking a look at this, you can read it here.

Video Story

This video created using Windows Movie Maker, combines images and music to create a thought provoking look at pesticides and GMOs. Please note that this class project was intended to defend a stance however the viewpoint held in the video does not necessarily reflect my personal thoughts.

Marketing of Information Services - The Tallahassee Museum

This project is an in-depth study of marketing strategies for The Tallahassee Museum. It is intended as a guide to help improve and adapt their current marketing strategy to foster higher participation rates from the teenage popoulation. If you are interested in taking a look at this, you can read the write-up I completed here.
