Wanted information about or photos of the Causseaux Cemetery which was located near Cherokee Sink. I use the word "was" because all evidence of the cemetery is now gone. It is believed that vandals threw the stones into the sink hole or otherwise destroyed them. Any list of the graves or photographs would be of great help. The Causseaux family members, the Wakulla County Historical Society and other interested persons would like to see that the people buried here who were so important in the early history of Wakulla County are not forgotten.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

My 2-great grandfather Allen Spears was apparently born in Florida circa 1821 just before the US took firm control. I have no idea where in Florida he was born. He married Sarah Ridley in Wilkinson County (probably near Irwinton), Georgia, in 1836, and he and his wife has settled in Thomas County, Georgia, by 1840. Sarah Ridley was 1/4 Creek Indian, and I think that Allen may have been part Creek or Cherokee. I don't know much about the Spears family. My great grandmother, Sarah Spears, had 4 brothers. Three of them served with the 29th Georgia Infantry Regiment in the Confederate Army, and all three died in the war. One brother, John A. Spears, was one of the handful of survivors of the 50th Georgia Infantry Regiment who survived to surrender at Appomattox. In 1882, in Thomas County, he was appointed guardian to James M. Carter, my great grandmother's son by her first marriage to James H. Carter who served in the 5th Florida Infantry Regiment and died at the Union POW Camp at Elmira, NY, in 1864. James M. Carter's bother Henry C. Carter served in Gamble's Florida Light Artillery and the Kilcrease Florida Light Artillery, as an artificer (skilled blacksmith), and was the only one of 4 sons of Herring Carter, of North Carolina, Leon County, Florida and Thomas County, Georgia) to survive the war. The Carters were part Indian... and it is believed by some that they may have been part African. One of Sarah Spears sisters, Nancy, married Amon H. Thompson, an orphan from Hamilton County, Florida, and they seem to have moved back and forth between Alachula County, Florida, and Thomas County, Georgia. The Thompsons are buried at Boston, in Thomas County, Georgia. Both of my great grandparents (Sarah Spears and William A. White) were dead by the time my grandfather White was 5 years old (1885). So far as I know, since his mother's death no one in our White line has known any Spears. I have oral history that connected great grandma Sarah Spears to Florida and perhaps to owning land in Florida... but again, I have no idea where. All of her life she showed up in censuses in Thomas County, Georgia. But my grandfather White had a sister and a daughter who married Harveys from Arran in Wakulla County, and I notice from the _Wakulla Digest_ that some Spears lived there too. Another sister of my grandfather White married Jim Trull who was from Wakulla County too, but I'm not sure where in Wakulla County he lived. I'm just wondering if there is a connection between my 2-great grandfather Allen Spears and the Wakulla County Spears... and I have particularly wondered since seeing photos that included many of the Spears in the _Wakulla Digest_. Can anyone help me with facts or speculation? You can read more about my Confederate kin till you are bored to tears at: http://pone.com/ts/rw000.htm

PRICE, on 11/3/1842 in Meridian, MS. Prior to that, I have no information on her/him or after this marriage until I pick them up on the 1860 Lawrence County, MS census. Could Martha Ann have been related to the PELT family line in south Georgia/north Florida in this era??? I found one Henry PELT family in the 1830-1840 period in west central Alabama, but no record of Martha Ann being part of this family. I am looking for information on my grandmother, MARY IDA STRICKLAND, born 1877 - died 1923.
She was married to Jacob Irving Langston. Their children: Earlie J. (my father), Roscoe, Flavy, Leon, Alma and Winnifred.
In 1987, I visited Mt. Elon Baptist Cemetary where my grandparents are buried and saw the house my father was born and raised in across the street.
I remember my father had a favorite Uncle Oliver Strickland that he always visited when he went back home. Another familiar name was George Strickland -- I am not sure how he was related.
If any of the Strickland family now living in the area can help me find information about Mary Ida Strickland Langston, I would be so grateful.
I would like to know if she was born in Wakulla, the names of her mother and father and any brother/sisters, and where they came from.
Many thanks for any bit of information you can provide me.

I'm looking for information on the Syfrett's who settled in the western part of Wakulla Co sometime after 1825. They were not in listed in the 1825 census of Leon County so I assume they came there sometime after that. My grandfather was Daniel Webster Syfrett and thus far I have not been able to go back beyond him. I and others who are researching the Syfrett's believe his father was the George Syfrett listed in the 1840 and 1850 census but have not been able to make a direct connection. Other names are Miller and Sheffield. As I live in Texas, research in the local area can only be done when we take vacations in FL.
My grandfather, ARTHUR LEONARD ROBERTS, was born in Wakulla County in 1877.
His mother, Emma E. CAPPS, B: 1855 was from Alabama & his father,
William Thomas ROBERTS B: 1851 somewhere nearby in Florida. I would like
to find out more information on both of these family lines. I believe
Emmas mother was named Sarah but do not know her maiden name. Emma I
believe was one of four girls. At the time of the 1870 census of
Franklin County, it shows mother Sarah with 4 girls - Emma E, Martha J. Mary
and a Susan. No mention of William or a male name. Anyone knowing more
about these family lines, please contact me via my E-Mail.
Many thanks.
