I am a decendent of Dennis Marion Cason. He is buried in Wachula Florida and I have visited his grave site. He fought for the South during the Civil War. I am trying to find information on his unit and campaigns. Dennis wasmarried to Matylda Lee (first cousin to Robert) she is buried with Dennis. I also have a very largepicture of Dennis's brother James B. which family history has him buried at Rock Island ConfederateCemetary (P.O.W.) I would like to find information on him also. Looking for information regarding the CSA unit that my great grandfather was a member of in Florida. Colonel Daniel Lafayette Kenan, a member of the Florida 6th Infantry is the relative I am interested in researching. I have visited Quincy, Florida, his home and have located the Kenan family grave site. Unfortunately, there is not a grave marker for my great grandfather. I am interested in gathering historical data regarding his CSA unit and wish to work toward honoring D.L. Kenan to include adding a headstone identifying his CSA contributions. I am looking for any information concerning JOHN HENRY WILSON who was born in 1849 in Florida. His father is believed to have died when he was 2 and his mother when he was 5 years old. After his parent's deaths John is believed to have lived with his maternal grandmother WILLIAMS. John later moved to Valdosta, Georgia by way of Ozark, Alabama. Family tradition is that he served with the home guard as a youngster at Natural Bridge near Tallahassee during the war. The last information I received said they had tracked him to Franklin County.
Seeking information on all BARRS and James C. Barrs in particular in the years at the beginning of the US Civil War. James C. Barrs brought slaves from Lowndes/Brooks County GA to operate one to three Salt Works at or near St. Marks, FL. He returned to Brooks County GA and enlisted in the GA Calvary in 1863 after Federal gunboats destroyed the salt works. He may have purchased land in Taylor County FL during the period he was in FL. I would very much like to find the location of Camp Jackson in Pensacola area. Our greatgrandfather Nathaniel S. Payne died on June 22, 1862 of disease and was buried there. I have information on a soldier on the roster by the name of W.L. Dukes. His full name is William Lazarus Dukes. He was mustered in on Feb 1863 and was taken prisoner in April 1865 at Sailor's Creek during Lee's retreat to Appomattox. He was held until a month after Lee's surrender and released from service. I am looking for any information or material on the 2nd and 11th regiments that T. W. Brevard was in. Gen. Brevard was in the 2nd inf and the 11th inf. He was in company D, Leon's Rifles from Leon County and also created Brevards Parisans. He originaly was in a Calvary Unit and fought to the end with Robert E. Lee at Appomattox. BOZEMAN, Alabama / Walton Co. FL I have a problem. My GGGrandfather James Bozeman was enlisted as priv, in Co I, infantry, 40th AL. Yes, he was born in Covington Co. AL but the 1860 Census showed that his parents and siblings along with his (James") wife and two children had not long recided in Walton County FL. I have information that James died Dec. 24, 1864 in Rock Island Illinous POW camp. Apparently, although he had moved to FL, it seems that he enlisted with AL confederacy. I am having some difficulty locating much information about him because of this. Can you help me?

ADAMS, FL 11th Inf Co. E / LEWIS, FL 10th Inf Co. H I have been trying to find information on 2 of my ancestors that were (according to my great grandmother's UDC application) members of the 10th & 11th regiments of the FL Infantry.
They did not apply for pensions according to the Archives in Tallahassee, so I'm trying to find access to military records in FL without having to actually go down there (I live in VA). The following information is what my ggrandmother wrote:
Cason McCoy Adams (1826-1911) was a private in Co. E, 11th Regiment of the FL Infantry. He enlisted 2 March 1863 at Madison, FL. The company muster roll Nov-Dec 1864 shows him as absent "sent to hospital in Richmond" on 17 Aug 1864. He was paroled 18 May 1865. Personal description was "5'9", light hair.
James Shepard Lewis (1828-1897) served with Co. H, 10th Regiment of the FL Infantry. He was discharged 17 May 1865. She did not list any enlistment date or location. James' brother Daniel was killed at Gettysburg and James was appointed Guardian of Daniel's 4 minor orphans. I am trying to find some definite results as to the participation and rosters of these regiments. Can you shed any light?

Samuel C. Strickland - Kilcrease Light Artillery
I'm researching my 3rd great-grandfather Samuel C. Strickland (born abt 1830 in SC, died about 1910 in GA, buried in Manor, GA). He was in Jefferson Co., FL in the 1860 and 1870 census'. He served as a C.S.A. soldier in the Kilcrease Light Artillery. He enlisted 4/28/64 at P&G R.R. Can someone tell me what P&G R.R. stands for. Perhaps something like Perry and Gulf Railroad? OLIVER
My great-grandfather was James Llewellyn Oliver, born in Alabama in 1842, son of Berrien Oliver, served in the 2d Fla. Cavalry at Olustee and Natural Bridge. His children were James Carter Oliver (my grandfather), Earnest Oliver and Jennie Oliver Warren. James Carter Oliver's son was my father, Wayne Carter Oliver. All the above are buried in the Oliver family cemetary at Wakulla, which I still legally own. I have accumulated a substantial amount of information on the Oliver Family (going back to England in the 1500's) which I will share with anyone seriously interested.

HERRING & 11th FL Inf. History
I'm looking for John E. Herring who supposedly was captured and coerced into deserting so he wouldn't go to prison. He was in the hospital with Typhoid fever one day and a couple of days later he was taking the oath as a deserter. I'm just trying to see if there is ANY record ANYWHERE of his being captured. I found something very interesting on these rosters for the 11th Infantry. 15% of the men in companies D & E deserted. I also found a number of Honorably Discharged----a term I'd not seen on any of the others. Could I possibly find an in-depth history of the 11th Infantry somewhere. According to the tombstone of James B. Walker, he was born in 1843 and died in 1863 in CSA. After searching through all the counties bordering his resident county of Nassau (both Georgia & Florida), and finding him on no muster roll, I'm beginning to wonder if that CSA stood for Confederate States of America rather than Confederate States Army. William S. Stanaland, aka Stanling, Stanley & Standley. He's buried in the Stanaland Cemetery, near Fish Creek, Taylor County, Florida. While he served in Company D, his older brother Rabon Stanaland served in Co. C 2nd Fla Cavalry.
STRICKLAND'S INDEPENDENT UNION RANGERS
Stanaland, William S. (b.. April 19,1828 Appling Co. GA d. March 5, 1892; m. Mary Elizabeth Sheffield) lived in Taylor Co. in 1860. He was a saltmaker and was originally exempted from military service. When the Exemption Act of 2/17/64 removed the exemption for saltmakers, he joined this company. He reenlisted 416/64 in Company D, 2nd Florida US) Cavalry in Taylor Co. as a refugee from the Confederacy and was promoted Sgt 8/12/64 but was reduced in early 1865. He was briefly missing in action 3/6/65 at Natural Bridge. He was mustered out 11/29/65 at -Tallahassee. He was 6', blue eyes, dark hair & fair skin. Occupation: farmer. He had at least three children. Stanaland, Raborn S (b. 1824 Appling Co. GA ) was a member of this company then reenlisted 4/6/64 in Company C, 2nd Florida Cavalry in Taylor Co. as a refugee from the Confederacy. Enlisted May 2 1864, at Marianna. A muster roll dated "to May 14, 1865," stated that he had been in the hospital at Marianna since January 23, 1865. Returned to Georgia after the war, settling in DeKalb Co. Name: James A. Sills Born: 22 Dec 1842 GA Died: 5 Aug 1920 FL Jackson Co Buried: FL Jackson Co Pleasant Ridge Cemetery Wife: Amelia S. Hart During Civil War, enlisted July 3, 1861 at Greenwood, Jackson Co, FL, for 12 months. He was mustered into the Confederate Army as a private in Co D, Capt. Barnes' Co, Sept 25, at Fort Mallory. That company became Co I of the 4th FL Infantry, with which he was shown in service through Dec, 1862. At the Battle of Murfreesboro (Stones River)TN, he was shot in the foot and captured on Jan. 5, 1863. He was imprisoned at Louisville, KY, until exchanged, arriving at City Point, VA, Apr 2, 1863. He apparently never returned to service. These were father and son, William being the father. I'm sure of the son's service. Grace at Greenwood FL in Mar, 1862 for a period of 3 years, though later records show he was to serve "for the war." He saw duty in TN, in Co G of the 6th FL, serving as a teamster, and on two occasions, on police duty in Knoxville. He remained in service until captured at Egypt Station, MS, Dec 28, 1864. He was imprisoned at Alton, IL until transferred to Point Lookout, MD, for exchange. He was in hospital in Richmond, VA, being furloughed for "debilitas" on Mar 8, 1865. Name Allen Hall Born 1 Mar 1844 GA Died 7 Mar 1921 Houston County, AL Wife: Margaret A. Williford During the Civil War, served in 5th Battalion, FL Cavalry, Co I. These were brothers, sons of Malcomb Hall and Martha Majors of Jackson County. They would move to Henry, later Houston, County sometime after 1880.
