Dashboard columns at a glance

Column What it means
Field Name The proposed standard name for this concept — e.g., "Student Full Name" or "FSU ID / EMPLID". This is what gets built as a Data Structure in Decisions.
Coverage Universal 10+ depts   Common 5–9   Specialized 2–4   Limited 1
Variants Number of distinct raw labels that map to this concept. High counts = high naming inconsistency across departments.
Confidence High ready to build   Medium review before approving   Low needs cleanup first
Audience Student Faculty Staff Mixed — use the Audience filter to narrow your view.

Choose a decision for each field

Click any row to open the detail panel — variants list, department chart, and source form links are all there. Click View Form to open the actual PDF or web form and verify a label in context. Use Copy Field Link to share a specific field with a colleague during group review.

Federate

Name is accurate, variants all refer to the same concept. Ready to build as a Data Structure.

Rename

Concept is correct but the name is too broad or unclear. Suggest a better name in column H.

Split

Variants describe two distinct concepts grouped under one name. Describe the split in column H.

Skip

Too department-specific, a system artifact, or not worth federating across units.

Needs Discussion

Not sure, or needs input from someone else. Note the question in column H. When in doubt, use this over a wrong Federate.

Filter, export, and fill in your decisions

1
Filter to your department

Use the Department dropdown in the filter bar. The table updates immediately. You can also combine with the Audience filter.

2
Click "Export for Decisions"

The downloaded file contains only the fields in your current filtered view. The filename reflects your department selection — e.g., fsu_registrar_field_review.xlsx.

3
Column G — Your Decision

Use the dropdown in column G to select: Federate, Rename, Split, Needs Discussion, or Skip. Columns A–F are locked — reference only. You only need to fill in the rows you have an opinion on.

4
Column H — Reviewer Notes

Required for Rename and Split — include the suggested name or describe the split. Optional for everything else. A short sentence is enough.

5
Save and send back

Email the file to the project team. Columns G and H are all that's needed.
