Variations to Existing Rules

These house rules are in effect for my campaign unless otherwise noted. These variations were used with 1st Edition and have not been examined to determine if they are still needed in 2nd Edition.

• Windling Troubadour Talents
  Windling troubadors may choose to take either the Wind Dance or the Disguise talent at first circle. This was decided in light of the limited use disguise will have for a windling troubadour who associates primarily with non-windlings and Wind Dance sounded like a cool varient for a more Windling-like Troubadour.

• Avoid Blow
  Avoid Blow produces a knockdown only on Poor Success or lower, and not on any failure as the book states.

• Extraodinary Successes on Attack Tests
  On a extraordinary success on an attack test, the minimum damage done is equal to the step number of the damage test. For example, if there is an extraordinary success on an attack test and the step for damage is 15, then if the roll is less than 15, the damage becomes 15. Totals above the step number are treated as normal.

• Battle Shout
  The Battle Shout talent is now successful on an average success or better. This house rule is under evaluation and may change. My player's argument was that Battle Shout does not last as long as Taunt and already has a built in penalty for affecting multiple targets.

• Recovery Tests
  Recovery tests always at least yields 1 damage point healed.

Talent Knacks

• Flaring Arrow
  
  • Talent: Flame Arrow
  • Rank: 5
  • Cost: 100
  • Disciplines: Archer
  This knack allows the Flame Arrow Talent to create arrows which create a bright, sudden flash of fire rather than a hot burning one. The mechanics are tenatively based on the Exploding Flaming Arrow talent knack.

• Song of Dance
  
  • Talent: Emotion Song
  • Rank: 6
  • Cost: 100
  • Disciplines: Troubador
  Allows the use of the Emotion Song talent on audiences through the physical motions of dance. Does not strictly require musical accompanyment, but suffers a -2 step penalty when it is unavailable. For purposes of game mechanics, the troubadour's ranks in Wind Dance (if any) have no bearing on this use of Emotion Song.

New Disciplines

• Air Trader
  Very much under construction...this is my inhouse alternative (not replacement) for the Air Sailor and Sky Raider disciplines.
