Listen my friend and learn what you may,
from a sky raider journey that began in darkness one day,
when a skyraider captain said "let's be on our way"
despite a crew member who was heard to say
I think we leave something behind, behind,
I think we leave something behind.
Anything with which we do not begin
We can buy with the treasure we'll win
Let us go, soon to return to the praise of our kin,
But as they went, one quiet mumble said beneath the troll din
I think we leave something behind, behind,
I think we leave something behind.
In the light of the morning sun, three trolls walked into town
and discovered the ship had already left ground.
Numerous sacks of supplies they set down
Looked at each other and said with a frown
I think we've been left behind, behind
I think we've been left behind.
The Captain cried it had been to long since brunch,
Where was the cook to bring him his lunch?
The kitchen contained only meat that went crunch
And upon it the trolls were forced to munch
Because they left the cook behind, behind
They left the cook behind.
The tainted food was a plague to that ship
Over their crewmates the trolls did trip
As each fell when he felt his guts let rip
And the same phrase could be heard from every lip.
Why'd we leave the cook behind, behind
Why'd we leave the cook behind.
The captain cried out, I will not concede defeat
To a silly little piece of very rotten meat
Bring the healer to tend to my pains and this heat
And the crewman ran off fleet on his feet
But the trolls had left something behind, behind,
The trolls had left something behind.
The crewmember searched upon each deck
amid ailing trolls and their piles of drek.
Then came back to the Captain who lay in a wreck
Bravely he said as he stuck out his neck
I think we left him behind, behind
I think we left him behind
The favor of fate they did not curry
Perhaps that is why they felt the storm's full fury
The fog and skull-sized hail caused them to worry
As in an unknown direction the winds made them to hurry
As they learned what else they left behind, behind
What else they had left behind.
Leaving behind their navigator so smart
Without a single sexton, map or chart
These unfortunate trolls their journey did start
That is why it ended in a mountain's heart.
Because they left him behind, behind
Because they left him behind.
A single troll from that crew did walk away
From the wreck that happened that day
Looking for his home knowing not the way
As he left he could be heard to say
I knew we left something behind, behind
I knew we left something behind
