Still Air

by Windy the Troubador
(Written by Windy so she would have gentle, meaningful
song to send the deceased on their way.)

Banishing the cold dark freeze,
comes the first warm gentle breeze.
Birdsong serves as our midwife
as spring brings the gift of life
Borne on winds warm and sweet
we first taste life's many treats
Then the winds begin to rise
lifting us to summer skies
hot sweet air fortells the start
of passion rising in the heart
sheltered by love true and warm
we weather every passing storm
Colder winds bring their call
heralding the coming fall
Reaping what we have sown
we reflect on all we've known
Autumn brings us one last chance
to join the leaves' swirling dance
Even the most brave and bold
know the end of winter's cold
At last one loses one's fight
against the dark eternal night
no more to soar where we will
dark and cold, the air is still.
