(Written by Windy in her husbands memory...)
Hit by the storm's arcing light
Darkness came to eyes so bright
My love was struck in mid-flight
And embraced eternal night.
Gliding through those stormy skies
I saw the death of Brighteyes
My instinct was to leave and fly
Until, exhausted, I'd fall and die.
Crushing grief drove me prone
My soul as broken as my lover's bones
My heart felt as cold as stone
Still, I knew I'd go on alone.
His death was sharp and sudden as a dart
But I knew from the start
Brighteyes and I would never part
While I held him in my heart.
As I travel and I sing
I carry within another Windling
Time has muted grief's sharp sting
and his love is still a wonderous thing.
