Final Score:
The Professor & the Mechanics  11
Goodfellas 7

The Professor and the Mechanics kicked off the season at Poor Paul's against Goodfellas (formally known at the Bearded Clams).  The evening started well for P&M as Andrew, Leroy, and Erik swept matches against Beth, Duski, and Doug.  Bill fell to Greg in two.  Doubles saw Bill and Andrew win in three games, while Erik and Leroy lost in two.  We led the match going into four-man by three points, 8-5.  Knowing that a victory in the 1st game would ice the match, P&M buckled down and easily won.  Goodfellas were able to sneak up and steal the second game, but we took the third for the final four point margin.  Overall, we were very pleased with the victory, and look for a much better season than last.  We have a bye week before our next match at the Bottom against the Bull Breakers.  Shu will be substituting for the next two matches while Bill is on vacation.

Bonus Points:
Bill had 10.
Andrew had 4.
Erik had 3.

Final Score:
The Professor & the Mechanics  9
Bull Breakers 8

After a week off, The Professor and the Mechanics shook of the rust and defeated the Bull Breakers last night in Quincy, Florida.  Our captain, Bill, is enjoying a vacation so we had Shu fill in (and we didn't even have to pay him for mileage).  The evening started inauspiciously as the BB jumped to a 6-3 lead.  Shu and Andrew were swept by Ish and Lewis, while Leroy lost in 3 games to Rachael.  Erik was able to take out Monte in two games to keep us close.  In doubles, both teams pushed.  Andrew and Shu won in two games behind Andrew's ton-eighty and Shu's cricket dominance.  However, Erik and Leroy fell by the same margin.  That left us with a three point deficit going into 601.  P&M was able to rally and win the first two games of four-man to claim the come-from-behind victory.   The win over the 1st placed Bull Breakers is a step forward for P&M, who finished outside of the top three last season.

Bonus Points:
Andrew, Erik, Leroy & Shu had 5 apiece.

Final Score:
The Professor & the Mechanics  9
Hobbit Hangouts 10

The tables were turned on the Professor & the Mechanics last night in a close battle with the Hobbit Hangouts.  P&M pulled out a one point victory last week, but fell by the same margin to the always tough HH.  The two teams were tied going into the third game of team 601, but P&M didn't have any answers and dropped the point.  The night started out nearly even . . .  Andrew and Erik were swept by Jake and Ernie, while Leroy won both games against Melissa, and Shu defeated Jeff in three.  In doubles, Leroy & Erik won both games while Shu and Andrew lost in three.  This evened the match at 7 apiece going into four man.  HH won the first game easily, leaving P&M with the prospect of losing by 4.  But, we rallied behind our substitute, Shu (who finished the night with a whopping 15 bonus points), and won the second game to tie the match again.   The Hangouts were able to finish off P&M in the deciding game at their home establishment.  The Professor & the Mechanics would like to thank Shu for filling in for Bill during the past two weeks.

Bonus Points:
Shu had 15.
Erik had 5.
Andrew & Leroy had 1.

Final Score:
The Professor & the Mechanics  5
ABBA 13

The Professor and the Mechanics were humbled last night by the upstart ABBA.  P&M, who always seem to take at least one whuppin' a year, couldn't get on track at Poor Paul's.  In singles, Andrew & Shu were swept by Clint & Travis.  Erik took a game from Lou, and Leroy won his match in two games against Beth.  Erik & Leroy represented P&M well in doubles by winning 2-1, but Shu & Andrew lost both games.  The score was 9-5 going into 4 man, and P&M felt confident that we could pull out a tie.  But, ABBA played well in both contests to complete the rout.  Shu substitued for P&M last night while Bill extended his vacation.  We hope to get back on track next week against Three Shooters & a Hooter at the Salty Dawg.

Bonus Points:
Leroy & Erik had 5.
Andrew had 2.
Shu had 1.

Final Score:
The Professor & the Mechanics  7
Three Shooters & a Hooter 11

Even though the Professor and the Mechanics fell by four to the solid 3 Shooters & a Hooter, we left the Salty Dawg with a postive feeling.  P&M bounced back from a sluggish start to win the final two games of 601, and make the match respectable.  Leroy and Erik continue to play well as Leroy swept another opponent in singles (Kelly H), the twosome won doubles in 3 games, and Erik led P&M in 601 with a 140 in.  Bill returned from his extended vacation to resume his leadership role.  Andrew continues to struggle in singles, but contributed in 4-man somewhat.  P&M started the evening in a hole by dropping 3 of the 4 singles matches.  Bill, Andrew, & Erik were swept by John, Kelly G, and Calvin.  With Leroy's win, 3 Shooters took a 6-2 lead.  In doubles, Leroy & Erik won in 3 while Bill and Andrew lost in 2.  The victory at this point was hopeless, and became worse as P&M lost the first game of 4-man.  But, we bounced back in the final two games to close the final margin to 4.

Bonus Points:
Leroy had 7.
Erik & Andrew had 4.
Bill had 2.

Final Score:
The Professor & the Mechanics  14
Salty Dawg DDT  4

The Professor & the Mechanics finally got untracked last night at the remodeled Hobbit Hoagie.  We were clicking on all cylinders, and beat Salty Dawg by a hefty 10 points.  P&M jumped out to an 8-2 lead after singles, and coasted home from there.  Erik, Leroy, & Andrew beat Joe, Jeff, & Karen in sweeps while Bill downed David in three games.  In doubles, Erik & Leroy continued their dominance by winning in three games.  Andrew & Bill combined to suffer the only defeat on the night.  They were swept by David & Joe.  Going into 4-man, P&M still held a 10-4 advantage.  In the past, we have been prone to rest on our laurels with a safe lead.  But, since we are down in the standings, we needed a crushing win.  We got it by sweeping the first two games of 601.  The victory should help us get back in the thick of things.  Next week, P&M travels to Quincy, Florida to challenge the last team on the first rotation of the schedule, P-3.

Bonus Points:
Andrew had 6.
Bill had 4.
Erik had 3.
Leroy had 2.

Final Score:
The Professor & the Mechanics  12
P-3  9

Courtesy of a solid victory last night at the Bottom Lounge, the Professor & the Mechanics put together back to back wins.  The game finished off the first rotation of the schedule with P&M winning 4 and losing 3.  The victory also assures us that we'll be no worse than fourth place going into the second half of the season.  Last night, we jumped out fast . . . leading 7-3 after singles.  Andrew & Bill swept Chris & Jeff, Leroy won over Skip in three, while Erik fell in three to Dave.  However, we stubbed our toes in doubles.  Both teams lost in three games.  Bill hit a ton-eighty for the only highlight of the doubles match.  The doubles debacle left P&M with a precarious 9-7 lead going into four-man.  We saw that lead diminish after the first game of 601, as P-3 won easily.  P&M pulled it together and won the crucial second game, and went on to take the third game for style points.

Bonus Points:
Bill had 7.
Andrew had 5.
Erik had 4.
Leroy had 2.

Final Score:
The Professor & the Mechanics  9
Goodfellas  11

The Professor and the Mechanics fell victim to their own prosperity last night at the Capital Pub.  Coming off consecutive wins, P&M went flat against Goodfellas.  The match was close, and we actually took the lead after the first game of 601.  But, since we defeated this team by four points earlier this season, P&M left with a bitter taste.  P&M had a chance to perform well in front of a home crowd (Jason stopped by for singles), but instead we suffered our 4th loss of the season.  In singles, Andrew & Leroy were swept by Greg & Duski.  Erik swept Beth, and Bill won in three against Doug.  This left P&M behind by a single point.  The margin stayed at one after doubles as Andrew & Bill fell in three games while Erik & Leroy won in three.  P&M won the first game of 601 in dramatic fashion, and claimed the lead for the first time all evening.  But, Goodfellas came back to win the last two games to win the match by two points.  We'll try to regroup against the Bull Breakers next week at the Breakroom.

Bonus Points:
Bill and Erik had 3.

Final Score:
The Professor & the Mechanics  8
Bull Breakers  10

The Professor and the Mechanics were edged by the Bull Breakers in a short match last night at the Breakroom.  The difference of the night was doubles as the two teams tied in singles & P&M won 601 by a point.  Singles saw four sweeps:  Leroy & Erik won for P&M over Rachael & Monte, while Andrew & Bill fell to Lewis & Ish.  Tied at four, we only picked up a single point in doubles.  The only victory in doubles was Bill & Andrew's first 501 game.  We trailed by 3 going into 4-man.  The outcome was quickly decided as the Bull Breakers won the first game.  Playing for pride, P&M won the final two games of 601 to close the gap.

Bonus Points:
Erik had 6.
Leroy had 4.
Andrew had 3.
Bill had 2.

Final Score:
The Professor & the Mechanics 9
Hobbit Hangouts  11

The Professor and the Mechanics claimed another moral victory against the Hobbit Hangouts last night at the Salty Dawg.  Unfortunately, the moral victories aren't getting us any closer to a trophy.  We fell behind by three after singles, played even in doubles, and edged HH in 601.  In singles, Erik led P&M with a sweep over Ernie.  Leroy took a game from Melissa, while Andrew & Bill were swept by Jake & Jeff.  In doubles, Erik & Leroy won in three while Bill & Andrew lost in three.  P&M found themselves trailing 9-6 going into 4-man.  After losing the first game, P&M were facing the prospect of losing 13-6.  But, we rallied to win the second game, and topped off the third game to close the margin to 2.  We play ABBA at the Hobbit next week.

Bonus Points:
Erik had 8.
Andrew had 3.
Leroy had 1.

Final Score:
The Professor & the Mechanics  9
ABBA  11

The Professor and the Mechanics lost by a two-point margin for the fourth week in a row.  The two point loss to ABBA was a drastic improvement from the 13-5 shallacking we suffered at their hands the first time through.  Last night, the match was lost in doubles.  Both P&M teams lost ... Bill & Andrew were swept, while Leroy & Erik managed to win a game.  Earlier in singles, P&M  & ABBA played evenly ... Leroy swept Beth, Andrew won in three against Clint, Erik lost in 3 to Lou, & Bill lost both to Travis.  So, going into 4 man, P&M was behind by the 3 points we dropped in doubles.  The match was decided quickly as ABBA won a close first game.  Playing for pride, P&M won the final two games to close the margin & gain momentum for next week.  We'll need it as we play the first-placed 3 Shooters & a Hooter.

Bonus Points:
Bill had 10.
Erik had 5.
Leroy & Andrew had 4.

Final Score:
The Professor & the Mechanics  11
Three Shooters & a Hooter  7

The Professor and the Mechanics took out the first-placed Three Shooters & a Hooter last night in what could be the best win in two seasons.  P&M, who lost by the same margin earlier this season, played even with 3S&H through singles & doubles, then upset the confident heavyweights in 4man.  The loss was only 3S&H's second of the season, and reduced their lead over the Bull Breakers (who P&M split with in 2 games).  In singles, the two teams slugged it out to a draw ... Erik swept John, Andrew won in 3 against Kelly G, Leroy lost in 3 against Kelly H, & Bill fell in two to Calvin.  The even match continued in doubles as Bill & Andrew swept both games, while Erik & Leroy fell in 2.  This left the two teams tied at 7 going into 601.  P&M won the first game convincingly, but fell behind in the second game.  We crept up and slammed the door on the stunned 3S&H.  With only two matches remaining, P&M still has some hope for a 3rd place trophy.

Bonus Points:
Bill and Andrew had 6.
Erik had 2.

Final Score:
The Professor & the Mechanics  13
Salty Dawg DDT  6

Brandishing our snappy new "Take Your Medicine" uniforms, The Professor and the Mechanics mauled Salty Dawg DDT last night at the Capital Pub.  The match wasn't as close as the score . . . P&M only lost one series.  Playing without Leroy, who is hunting game in the Cheese state, we still managed to win.  The victory moved our overall record to within striking distance of .500 (we're 6-7 with one match left).  In singles, Erik swept Donna & Andrew swept Joe.  Bill beat David in 3, and our sub, Bill H, lost in two to Jeff.   In doubles, Bill H & Erik won both games, while Bill C & Andrew won in three.  Going into 4-man, we led by a margin of 10 to 4.  That quickly was extended to a 12-4 margin as P&M won the first game.  Unfortunately, we lost the second game to the "never say die DDT."  However, we came back to take the 3rd & deciding game to extend our lead to the final margin.  P&M will celebrate Thanksgiving next week before finishing the season against P-3.

Final Score:
The Professor & the Mechanics  13
P-3  5

After taking a week off for the Thanksgiving break, the Professor & the Mechanics picked up where we left off.  On the 15th, we whipped Salty Dawg 13-6.  Last night, we one-upped ourselves, whipping P-3 by a score of 13-5.  With matching shirts, and now ... matching dart cases (Bill Hindel carved the team new cases), P&M went to work at Barnacle Bill's Oyster Bar & Dart Corner.  The match started out very close ... Bill topped Jeff, & Andrew beat Chris in sweeps, while Erik fell in 3, & Leroy lost both games to Skip.  This gave P&M a precarious 5-4 margin going into doubles.  We dominated the uninspired P-3 (one member left early, employing Bill H as a sub) in doubles.  Bill & Andrew swept, while Leroy & Erik won in three.  That gave us an insurmountable lead going into 4-man.  We increased that lead by winning both 601 games easily to complete the romp.  The victory allows us to finish the disappointing season on an impressive 3-game-high-note.  We beat the 1st place team, and destroyed our last two opponents en route to salvaging a .500 season.  We'll look to improve next season which begins in January.

Bonus Points:
Bill had 8.
Andrew had 4.
Erik & Leroy had 3.
