The team now officially known as the Duck Farts unceremoniously kicked off the Fall 2002 season last night at the Salty Dawg.  We welcomed Dave Linaberry, who hasn't played in the dart league in a while, to the team.  Against Blunts and Broads, a rookie team in division 1, we struggled overall, but did have a few bright spots.  Erik doubled-in for each of the three 4-man games in his first attempt and led us to a 3-2 victory in that event.  He also won his singles match over Skip in three games.  The rest of us didn't fare as well in singles.  Andrew managed a game against Chris, while Leroy was swept by Nichole, and Dave lost both games to Andy.  We did do slightly better in doubles.  Andrew & Erik won in three, while Leroy and Dave were swept.  That left us in a 10-5 hole going into 4-man.  We lost the first game, then came back to win the last two for the final margin of 4.  We have a rescheduled match on the table, but play our next match at Sporties against Douser.  Andrew will be on vacation that week.  We hope to have Jeff sub in darts, but he won't be able to update the web page.

We lost this match at the Breakroom.  We played with only 3 players as Dave was on vacation and our sub didn't show up.  Calvin beat Erik in two, John beat Andrew in two, Sheila beat Leroy 2 of 3, and Tex won by default.  In doubles, John and Calvin beat Andrew, while Erik and Leroy beat Tracey and Sheila.  We lost both 601 games.

We won our first match of the season at our sponsor's bar, Poor Paul's.  The match was nearly relocated because a member of Fantasy Darts is banned from this establishment.  However, we refused to move out of consideration of our sponsor.  This cause some controversy, but the match was played at the scheduled location to the chagrin of Fantasy Darts.  In singles, Dave beat Jeff M; Leroy beat Keith; Erik lost in 3 to Travis; and Andrew lost in three to Jeff T.   We split in doubles:  Andrew & Erik won both against Travis and Keith, while Leroy and Dave lost both to Jeff and Jeff.  We swept the 601 games to achieve the 12-7 victory.

The Duck Farts secured our second victory in a row last night at Sparkies' pub and songwriters' pulpit.  After a week off for remembrance, we regained our form quickly and were able to hold on at the end.  We started out even with the Salty Dawg Beacons, but dominated doubles to get the lead, and held on for 4-man for the 2 point victory.  In singles:  Dave swept Kathy; Leroy swept Patsy; Erik lost 2 to Mike; Andrew lost 2 to Jim.  In doubles:  Andrew and Erik won both games over Kathy and Mike, while Leroy and Dave beat Gladys and Jim 2-1.  We won the first game of 601 to jump to a 10-5 lead, thus securing the victory.  But, the Duck Farts rested too heavily on our laurels, and we dropped the final two 601 games.

The Duck Farts fell to Douser in a game that wasn't as close as the score.  We didn't win a match in singles or doubles, and actually won only 1 of 2 games in 601 ... the third was a forfeit.  But, we had a week off, so the rust was expected.  In singles, Dave took a game from Greg and Erik took won from Kelley.  Andrew was swept by Lewis and Leroy was swept by Duski.  In doubles, both teams were swept.  Andrew & Dave by Lewis & Duski; Erik & Leroy by Greg & Kelley.  We won the first game of 4-man to avoid the 16 put on us.  However, we dropped the second game.  Douser was in a hurry to leave, and the match was wearing late, so they forfeited the last game to us, which we gladly accepted.

Since the Duck Farts upset Salty Sud and Studs last season, which was our only victory, we have become their whipping post.  In the two games that we played this season, we have lost by a combined score of 28-7.  Last night at Poor Pauls, our sponsor's bar, we didn't even have the 3-person team excuse to use.  We were completely skunked in singles:  Andrew to John, Dave to Shu, Erik to Tex and Leroy to Sheila.  After that embarrassment, we only were outscored 6-4 for the remainder of the match.  In doubles,  Andrew & Erik beat John and Tex in three games, while Dave and Leroy lost in two.  We won the first game of 601 to bring the score to 11-4, but lost the last two.  We do play Salty Sud and Studs one more time this year.  Hopefully, we'll make a better showing.

Fantasy Darts avenged an earlier season loss to the Duck Farts last Wednesday at the Salty Dawg.  We played well at times, but fell behind too far in singles to come back.  Erik was able to win his singles match, a 2-1 victory over Jeff.  Leroy took a game from Keith, but Andrew was swept by Ernie and Dave was swept by Travis, so we went into doubles with a 7-3 deficit.  Things improved slightly in doubles:  Dave and Erik beat Keith and Travis in three games, but Leroy and Andrew fell to Jeff and Ernie.  We won the first game of 601 to close the gap to 10-7, and had a chance to win the second game and lose by only a single digit, but it was all for naught.  We did regroup to win the final 601 game to narrow the final margin to a respectable 4.

The Duck Farts put it all together last night in the Quincy Karaoke Bar located at the bottom of the hill against the Salty Dawg Beacons.  All four members played well in all events and we came home to Tallahassee with a 9 point victory.  In singles:  Dave swept Jim; Andrew swept Patsy; Leroy swept Gladys; while Mike beat Erik in two.  In doubles, both Duck Fart teams swept their opposition.  Leroy and Andrew defeated Mike and Gladys, while Dave and Erik won over Jim and Patsy.  That gave us a 10-2 lead going into 601.  We won the first game to extend our lead to 10.  However, we fell in the second game, then bounced back to take the finale.

The Duck Farts won for the second week in a row, this time at our sponsor's bar against Blunts and Broads.  Our captain, Leroy, was hunting and unable to attend.  His substitute, Monte, had to leave after singles due to a piercing pain.  The three remaining Duck Farts played well and held off Blunts and Broads by a two point margin.  We got off to a good start in singles.  Each match went the full three games with the Duck Farts on the good side on 3 of 4:  Dave beat Skip, Andrew won over Chris, and Erik defeated Andy.  Monte fell to Nichole.    While warming up for doubles, Monte noticed blood from a recent piercing and was forced to leave.  Andrew was able to win the 501 game against Andy and Skip by himself, but was no match in either cricket game.  Erik and Dave won both games over Nichole and Chris.  That gave the Duck Farts a 10-7 lead going into 601.  We won the first game to clinch the victory, but were a victim of numbers in the second and third games.  We are happy with the win, and our record is now a much improved, respectable 4-6 with make-up matches against 2 teams and 3 scheduled matches remaining.

The Duck Farts two game winning streak came to an end at the hands of Douser last night at Poor Paul's.  For some reason, we just can never give Douser a good game.  Last night, they beat us soundly in all three events.  In singles, Dave beat Duski for our only match victory of the evening.  Leroy took a game from Kelly; Greg swept Andrew and Lewis beat Erik in both games.  In doubles, Andrew and Dave took a game from Lewis and Duski to finish our scoring for the night.  Leroy and Erik fell to Greg and Kelly in two games.  We lost both games of 601 despite valient efforts.  The Duck Farts did have another good night for bonus points ... we hit 21.  Last week, we scored 27 with only 3 players.  Our next match is against Salty Suds and Studs next week at the Breakroom.

The Duck Farts lost last night to the Salty Sud and Studs at the perpetually renovated Breakroom.  Remarkably, we had a chance to steal a victory had we won both games of 601, but fell in both for the 7 point loss.  In singles, Dave continued his good play ... beating John in two.  Erik took a game from Tex, and Leroy took 1 from Shu.  Andrew lost both to Sheila.   Doubles saw Erik and Dave defeat John in Sheila in three games, while Leroy and Andrew lost both games to Tex and Shu.  That left us behind 9-6 going into 4-man.  We went toe to toe with SS&S in both games, but lost all 4 points.  We hope to rebound next week against Fantasy Darts at the Salty Dawg.  It is our last scheduled match, but we do have two makeups to play if necessary.

The Duck Farts played very well in defeat last night against Fantasy Darts.  We played one man short and hung with the 3rd placed team throughout the night.  Leroy was unable to make it to our last match of the season, and we were not able to find a substitute.  However, we played well from the beginning ... starting off the night losing singles by only a point despite having a automatic 2-0 loss.  Erik defeated Ernie 2-1, Dave beat Keith 2-1, and Andrew took one game against Travis.  In doubles, Dave was thrown to the wolves and lost to Keith and Travis.  Andrew and Erik lost 2-1 to Jeff and Ernie.  We played tough in the first 601 game, but lost.  The second game went down to the wire, with the Duck Farts receiving some charity at the end ... winning the game and forcing a third, which was won decisively by Fantasy Darts.  The final score was 13-8 in favor of Fantasy Darts, but the story of the night was bonus points.  As in, there was a bunch of them.  I don't think there is an official Tallahassee Dart League record anywhere on file, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was among the best nights in TDL history.  The two teams combined for 87 bonus points!  Dart Farts, who only fielded 3 players, accounted for 34.  Erik set his individual and the Dart Fart team record with 17 bonus points on the night.  Dave had 10 and Andrew had 7.  It doesn't appear that the Duck Farts will make up any canceled matches so this will be the final match of the season.
