In the new era of
the office pool, Andrew will set a lofty bar with a solid collection of
championship caliber teams. The only
challenge will be selecting the week 4 replacement team. I might replace Miami just to be able to
root against them. Tip of the cap to
Mike Lake and Nebraska as I expect the Cornhuskers to have a decent
team. They will threaten double-digit
wins, but I expect that from Ohio State, Tennessee, Utah, and NC State. |

James |

James will rise
back up to the top quarter of the standings after a surprisingly poor showing
in 2023. He fell for the Mizzou hype,
but obviously forgot that they do still play in the SEC . . . and they are
still Missouri. Also, Berkely will
struggle to stay above .500 in their new conference. Oregon and Notre Dame will carry him and
put him in the 2nd spot, slightly above Lee. |

Lee |

The third person
on the podium this year will be Lee. I
can't put him too far down the list since he drafted FSU. If this was 2023, his roster would easily
rise to the top with three two playoff teams, FSU, Alabama, Washington . . . plus
LSU. Tthose teams are expected to fall
off in 2024, but how far? That will
determine if my prediction for Lee holds water, or if he'll find himself much
further down the list. |

Sam/Cassie |

Sam finished in
4th place last year, and then picked up Cassie on her team to try to move her
into the top 3. As a hired gun in
2023, Cassie helped Joling finish in 2nd place. I think the duo drafted well, but Sam has
reached a possible plateau. Michigan
lost their coach, QB, and other key players.
Oklahoma stepped up their conference to the SEC and will struggle out
of the gate. West Virginia was a homer
pick, and they picked two small schools from Alabama. All solid picks, but not quite top 3
material. |

Zack stepped up
his office pool entrance game this year with the King Zack get-up. I will admit that it was a well-deserved
grand entrance after winning the pool last year. But, he spent too much time preparing for
his entrance and not enough time researching the draft. I see too many 7 or 8 win teams in his
collection and not enough 9 or 10 win teams.
Zack will be happy to know that I also predicted him to finish in 5th
place last year, and he won it all. |

Welcome Gene to
the Office Pool! Gene stated on a
Teams message that he thought he'd finish in 6th place. Well, I also think he'll finish in 6th
place. After his first couple of
picks, I thought we had a ringer joining the league. But, the pressure starting mounting and
words like Wyoming and Boston College came out of his mouth. Still, avoiding the basement should be an
acceptable outcome for a rookie. |

Heather/Tendo |

After a 5th place
finish in 2023, Heather also went searching for help. In football, they say if you have two QBs
that share the playing time, you really have none. That seems to apply for Heather and
Tendo. Perhaps they would have drafted
better indivdually than as a team. Oh,
I think their draft started out just fine with Georgia, Texas, and even Southern
Cal as their first picks. But then,
things went off the rails with Florida, BYU, Iowa, Arkansas, and South
Florida. Still, nothing like a
predicted 7th place finish to motivate ya!
Just ask the Gators about their motivation this year. Most are predicting they will have a losing
record, and they are using that as motivation to rise up. I still think they will have a losing
record, but it might work for Heather and Tendo! |

My favorite
statistical theory, and I'm sure Logan has heard this too, is that if you
give a monkey a typewriter and an infinite amount of time, it will eventually
type out War and Peace. The same is
true about Logan and her random picking of teams in the Office Pool. With an infinite amount of time, her method
will eventually land her in 1st place.
But, it won't be this year.
Good news is that she'll be able to pick the 1st draft spot in 2025
and be able to get UCF again! |
