Welcome to my homepage.
I am an assistant professor of political science at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. I study comparative and international political economy, with specialization in the politics of Russia and the post-communist countries. My research focuses on the economic effects of political institutions, exploring in particular how economic actors respond to weak or transitioning institutions. For example, my research on political centralization and its effects on economic performance across the regions of the Russian Federation was recently published in the Journal of Politics. Before joining the faculty at FSU, I spent 2011-2012 as a postdoctoral research associate in the Leitner Program for International and Comparative Political Economy at Yale University's MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies. I earned my PhD in August 2011 from the Department of Political Science at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH.
